I am not sure that EMRs is the right one which I thought it was. But we do put all the data , descriptions of the chief complaints, objective finding, assessment, diagnoses, and protocol of treatment, prescriptions into computers, is that called EMRs? The good thing is that it indeed saves a lot time during seeing patients, especially when the other staff can not find the charts of patients immediately . But it really arises debates about the relationship between patients and doctors. I heard that one physician, a famous G-I specialist, used to see over 200 in a visit ( I think it is not possible in the U.S. :) ) . So, he spent less than 5 minutes in seeing a patient and most of the time, he looked the screen of computer and typed the SOAP of the patients. He still had a huge number of patients because he was a famous doctor. However, he was accused of disrespect for patients. One day, when one patient went to his visiting, this physician did start to type all the
process in computer as he used to do not until this patient finished his chief complaints .After a short time, this patient was sent out out of the clinic , and the prescription was ready for this patient. This patient was so annoyed and sued the doctor for the disrespect and ignoring. Is that so ridiculous in health system , right?
