HIT

I think that health information technology would be useful in all medical settings especially hospitals. It can standardize how records are kept. All information will be shared among health professionals and you can avoid the potential of miscommunication and he said she said problem. I think it will be more efficient in a health care setting also because you do not need to wait for results or wait for a phone call to verify if a patient is taking so and so drug.
Paper system can be misplaced easily. By using a computer system all information can be saved and backed up at the end of the day. There will be less clutter and you don't have to waste space to fit all medical files.

  1. I agree, the system would be a lot more efficient however people will lose jobs as a result of this technology so it is debatable based on who you are whether this system is better. It remains to be seen whether this records will get be secure. I think it is very possible that one day we will have a system where everyone that has medical insurance will have a medical record number (like a SSN) that will be accessible by any licensed health care provider so they can have the most up to date information about their patients. Hospital emergency rooms will also be much more adequately prepared with each patient they receive if they just have a general idea of the patient's preexisting conditions.
